There are now a number of 3D Video Cameras available to buy. This is great news for all you 3D fans. Let’s have a quick look at some of these cameras and their prices.

Panasonic HDC-SDT750K 3D $749.00

Panasonic were the first to bring out a 3D video camera being a brand that really stands out in the 3D market. They have also brought the product in at the mid-range price bracket, which is fantastic considering it is such a great product. This means that you get a really good 3D Video recorder, from a leading brand at a very reasonable price. Some of the features of the HDC-SDt750K are as follows:

-Wind noise concealer

-5.1 Chanel surround sound system and zoom mic

-35mm wide angle lens

-Intelligent resolution technology

-New advanced 3MOS system

-Also shoots still and 2D film

Sony HDR – TD 10 High Def 3D $1498.00

The Sony HDR offers full HD 3D recording. You can watch your footage, without 3D glasses, on the pull out LCD screen. One of the fantastic features of this camera is the 10X Optical Zoom. However, for the price this does noes not have enough outstanding features when compared with the Panasonic. Let’s have a look at some of its other features:

Xtra fine LCD touch panel

Parallax barrier system

Focus control

Mulitple language display

Face detection

Memory card slot

Aiptek 3D HD Camcorder $150.00

Aiptek is one of the least well known and cheapest brands on this list. Reviews tell us that it is good for a very basic level of 3D shooting but nothing more. This may be a good starter camera for someone considering 3D but is leaves us wondering if you might as well save up for an extra month or two and go for the extremely superior Panasonic. Here are some of the features of the Aiptek:

3D Live view display

Videos can be uploaded to YouTube

Optional 8 inch display for portable viewing

Compact and easy to carry

3D video cameras really are the future. With 3D TV massively taking off in the way that it has, 3D video cameras are the natural progression. Soon 3D TVs will be the standard in British homes and we all know that having a video recorder that is compatible with your TV is essential.

One of the best video recorders on the market is the Panasonic HDC-SDT750K, High Definition 3D Camcorder. It is the world’s first 3D shooting camera and has a number of great features which are as follows:

Full HD 1080/60p Progressive Movie Recording

Advanced 3MOS System

Intelligent Auto

Hybrid OIS

Automatic mode selection, sports, portrait, low light, spot light, snow, beach etc

Wind noise concealer

5 speaker recorders for high quality sound

35mm wide angle lens

Soft skin mode to make wrinkles and blemishes appear less pronounced

No longer is complex equipment required to create 3D movies. With the Panasonic HDC-SDT750K you can shoot your own high definition, stunning family films. Considering that it is a phenomenal technical innovation it is very easy to use. You simply attach the 3D conversion lens to the camera and you are ready to go. With the lens attached an effect called visual disparity is produced. Images from both the right and left are captured by the two lenses and then recorded together. You can watch your home movie masterpieces by connecting your camera to a 3D compatible TV.

Panasonic has been a leader in electronics for a great number of years now and with products like this it is not hard to see why. Panasonic are really pioneering the way in 3D technology, first with their revolutionary VIERA 3D TVs and now with the HDC-SDT750K. There was once a time when watching a 3D Movie was a rare and special occurrence, but now we are able to have these special moments every day thanks to this outstanding technology.

Binocular Vision

First things first, humans use something called binocular vision. Binocular vision is achieved because we have two eyes. Our eyes are about 3 inches apart and therefore they see slightly different images. These two images are projected on to our retinas and the difference between the images is known as binocular disparity. When our brain is processing these images it joins them together to create one 3D image, giving us our depth perception (stereopsis) and ability to judge distance.

3D Movies

3D cameras that are used to shoot professional movies work by recording the same scene from two slightly different angles. Both of these shots are displayed on the cinema screen, and 3D glasses are used to feed the different images in to your eyes and thus create one 3D picture. There are two main types of 3D glasses: coloured and polarised. Coloured glasses will send one image to one particular eye and the other image to the other eye. Polarised glasses work when two differently polarised images are projected on to the screen, the glasses only allow one of the images into each eye because the lenses are polarised differently. Polarisation is a much more modern technique and provides a clearer picture.

3D Video Cameras

3D home video cameras work on the same principle. Some will have two very obvious lenses a couple of inches apart in order to record the two required images. Others will have a lens that slots over the top of the cameras fixed lens, but it still works in the same way. Once your two images are recorded you connect your 3D video camera to your compatible 3D TV. You will then need to wear your 3D glasses to view the movie you have just recorded.

3D video cameras are such new and innovative pieces of technology that there aren’t a huge number of them on the market at the moment. This of course will change in the coming months and year’s because the popularity of 3D is starting to soar. All of the leading electronics companies are starting to make 3D video cameras but it is Panasonic and Sony that have really led the way. Let’s have a look at their latest 3D cams!

Panasonic HDC-SDT750K, High Definition 3D Camcorder

This was the first 3D video camera to be released to the public and it has set a very high standard for those releases that follow. This Panasonic 3D video recorder is compatible with their very popular and high quality VIERA 3D HD TVs. It has a number of fantastic features that really set it apart from the crowd. One of these features is Panasonics globally acclaimed 3MOS system. The 3MOS Sensor works by splitting up the light into primary colours and then processing each colour with its own unique sensor. This means that images appear clearer, brighter and sharper. It also has an 18x intelligent zoom. This means that you can capture zoomed in shots without the usual blur around the edges. Panasonic cameras also all use Leica Dicomar lenses. These lenses are renowned for producing extra sharp images and excellent shading. Other features include a 35mm wide angle lens, 5.1 channel surround sound system, wind noise concealer and soft skin mode.

Sony HDR-TD10 High Definition 3D Handycam

Sony has recently released the HDR-TD10 and has deservedly received some great reviews for it. It really is a state of the art, professional and stylish piece of equipment. It is a little pricier than the Panasonic but it does have a number of outstanding features. It uses the ‘frame packing’ 3D signalling method to produce full HD quality with no compromise of image quality. The placement of the lenses for this video camera has been seriously considered for maximal stereoscopic effect and optimum performance. It also has an optical steady shot function, a parallax barrier system, and LCD display and a focus control system.

2010 was a great year for 3D technology. Electronics companies saw a huge boost in the sales of their 3D TVs and so released some of the most innovative sets to date to meet this new demand. As well as this there was also the release of the first 3D Video Camera. It was Panasonic and Sony racing for the opportunity of christening their 3D video recorder as the world’s first. Panasonic piped Sony at the post and released the HDC-SDT750K. Sony was not long after with the HDR-TD10 Handy cam. Both of these video recorders have been well received and earned some great reviews.

2011 will see a range of advances in the 3D video camera market. One big talking point is the Sony Bloggie 3D which is set to be released in April. Sony tapped into the pocket video recorder market with their Bloggie model a couple of years ago. Video sharing websites like YouTube were on the rise and the need for compact USB cameras was high, as it still is. The Bloggie was a big success for Sony and so it is no surprise that they have developed a 3D model.

Being able to shoot home movies in 3D will soon become essential, especially as the use of standard 2D TVs and DVDs decline. 2011 will be the year for a number of new 3D releases in the video camera market. Camera giants Kodak are set to launch a 3D pocket cam, Panasonic have further 3D video camera projects in the pipeline and all of the other big names are said to be developing their own ranges. 2011 looks set to be the year that 3D home video cameras really come into their own and take off on a global scale!
